Where To Finish School

Calgary Board of Education

  • Chinook Learning Services
    Chinook Learning Services is aprovider of Academic Success Programs, Adult English Language Learning and non-credit Continuing Education (professional and personal development).
  • CBe-Learn
    An online junior and senior high school. It is located in Career and Technology Centre.
  • Career &Technology Centre (CTC) at Lord Shaughnessy High School
    A place where students are invited to personalize their education experience and engage in unique, hands on opportunities. The CTC provides continuous access to academic, industry-standard programs.
  • Alternative High School
    As the name states, this is an alternative to the regular high school programs. It allows students to direct and pace their own learning.
  • Discovering Choices / Start Outreach
    This program offers courses based on Alberta Education high school curriculum and work experience opportunities. Enrolment include students who are between 15-19 years old as of September 1. This program also provides additional services such as personal and career counselling, conflict resolution, anger management and more.

Other Institutions

  • Alberta Distance Learning Centre
    Independent high school programming with Knowledge and Employability courses. Fees are sometimes partially reimbursed with completion of the course.
  • Bow Valley College |Academic Upgrading
    They offer a high school equivalency program (GED), academic upgrading, English as a Second Language (ESL) and job training programs.
  • St. Paul's Academy
    Located in Okotoks, St. Paul's Academy offers online, blended, traditional and aligned programs.

How to Get Training Without a High School Diploma

  • Bow Valley College
    Business and vocational programs are available to students who have not completed hish school. As long as minimum standards and age requirements are met.
  • SAIT
    Programs are available for students who do not have a high school diploma but are 18 years of age and meet the minimum requirements.
  • Athabasca University
    A distance education approach to university education. They have an open admission policy and offer degrees in Arts, General Studies, Administration, Commerce and Science along with a number of University Certificate Programs.
  • Mount Royal University
    Programs are available to students who are 18 years of age and have not completed high school but still meet the minimum requirements.
  • Canadian Forces
    Check out their many education and occupation opportunities
  • Apprenticeship Programs
    These programs offer on-the-job training in selected trades.
