This grant, for $35,000.00, will enable us to significantly impact the learning experience for students. Principal's Message

Welcome to Alex Munro School

​All schools within the Calgary Board of Education share a common mission:
Each student, in keeping with his or her individual abilities and gifts, will complete high school with a foundation of learning necessary to thrive in life, work and continued learning.
Schools, just like students, are unique. At Alex Munro we are proud of our school’s unique features that support students as they reach for their best every day.
Alex Munro’s well-resourced Learning Commons is a friendly and productive meeting place for students to be curious. This newly renovated space provides students with opportunities to collaborate with peers on projects, read and learn individually in quiet corners, play a game, find and solve a problem and, of course, choose books from diverse topics and formats.
Alex Munro’s commitment to student leadership contributes to a positive and caring school culture. Our Young Activist club members support the greater good as they plan and organize local and global initiatives. Our reliable and well trained student AMA Patrollers assist pedestrians to cross the road safely while student office leaders greet visitors to the school with a warm welcome.
Alex Munro’s beautiful and interesting outdoor learning spaces include flower gardens, composting bins, a natural rock amphitheatre, a tiny free library, wicking beds, and birdhouses. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the community to develop these spaces.
Our school’s namesake, Mr. Alex Munro, served as Park Superintendent for the City of Calgary during the post WWII era. His early commitment to the development and maintenance of the park system is evident in beautiful outdoor spaces throughout the city including Senator Patrick Burns Memorial Rock Gardens located on the northeast slope of Riley Park. We are proud to participate in learning activities that promote and honour his legacy to Calgarians.
In the spirit of Mr. Alex Munro we are Planting Futures together.
