Our CBE Student Code of Conduct and CBE Progressive Student Discipline regulation apply to all of our students. They outline the roles and expectations for our students to promote positive and inclusive learning environments, help students to develop empathy and become good citizens both within and outside of the school community, and explain the consequences when a student’s disruptive behaviour negatively affects the learning environment.

Our CBE Employee Code of Conduct applies to all of our employees. The CBE maintains high standards for the conduct of its employees, and expects them to conduct themselves honestly and with integrity and exercise common sense, good judgement and discretion.

At Annie Gale School, student behaviour and the school discipline policy is based on the expectation that all students will respect the rights and property of others. Respecting the rights and property of others means that all students have a right to learn, the right to feel safe, and the right to personal space and property. Interfering with the rights of others can result in removal of certain privileges and access to the school and its services. Students exhibiting inappropriate behaviour may be required to participate in community service.

Our expectations are that students will:

  • Treat each other and all school personnel with courtesy and respect
  • Demonstrate concern and care for the rights and property of others
  • Respect the rights of others to learn and to teach
  • Are honourable and admit to their mistakes and make amends
  • Help keep our school environment clean and litter free (food and drink, other than water, are not permitted in instructional areas)
  • Do not visit the campuses of other schools or invite guests to our campus during regular school hours. Like all CBE schools, Annie Gale School is a closed campus and
  • In the event of a conflict, follow the three step process below

Substitute Teachers and Presenters

Just as a guest in a home is treated a bit better than the regular members of the household, we expect that Substitute Teachers and presenters, our guests, will be treated well by our students. These adults are visitors to our school and require help and cooperation in order to support a positive learning environment for all.

Suspension

Behaviours that will likely result in suspension include but are not limited to:

  • Disruptive behaviour, wilful disobedience or defiance of authority, interfering with the orderly conduct of classes or the school
  • Play fighting
  • Threats, extortion, assault. Fighting, intimidation, and harassment will not be tolerated on school property, while on a school-sponsored activity or while a student is going to and from school. We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying. We request the assistance of parents/guardians in encouraging their child to seek alternative methods of solving problems. Students who insist on engaging in these activities will face suspension from school for a period of time. Re-entry to the school following a suspension is conditional upon a meeting with school administration, parents/guardians and the student(s) involved.
