Welcome Back

To all of our new students, welcome to Bishop Pinkham school! We encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist both in classrooms and our extra-curricular programs. Our hope is that you will find ways to make positive contributions to our school. We look forward to learning more about you and with you as the year progresses.

To our returning students, welcome back! We challenge you to continue to excel in your classes and to model the leadership and citizenship that will help make this another great school year at Bishop Pinkham.

The community of educators at Bishop Pinkham strive to support each student in their learning journey to the best of their abilities. We want students to feel a sense of excitement and anticipation before each day begins, and to be active and engaged in their own learning throughout the day.

CBE schools are welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments where each child feels a sense of belonging. Even though we have more than 245 schools across the city, each one has developed a unique personality that focuses on the unique needs of its students and community.

Bishop Pinkham parents and guardians play a vital role in the ongoing learning, growth, and development of their child. On-going communication between home and school is vital and we encourage parents and guardians to contact the school and staff as needed. We welcome the opportunity to meet you, whether it is in the school, on the field or court, in the theatre, on the stage or wherever it is that we may find ourselves together. Please consider attending our School Council meetings, or attending school events that occur throughout the year.

We look forward to working with you this year to help your student reach their potential!

"Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius."

Pietro Aretino

We’ve had an absolutely beautiful fall academic quarter and are already welcoming the Winter Season! Where did the time go?

Looking to the month ahead we want to invite everyone to come to Celebrate Bishop Pinkham through the Arts on December 13th from 7-8:30 pm. Our students will be hosting an Art Market and a Band Concert that evening, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Happenings

We would also like to extend a special invitation to you our Parent and Guardian community. We are looking for interested parents to partner with BP to strengthen and enrich our Open House program. Our open house will be held on January 17th at 6:00 PM and we’re asking interested parents to host a Parent Cafe in the Learning Commons from 7-8pm.  Please email kmmunroe@cbe.ab.ca if you can support that event.

Thank you so much for all the parents who have already had chances to volunteer, at High school tours, field trips, picture days, and healthy hunger lunches. We truly appreciate all that you do! A special thanks go out to Carol Collinge, and our BPMPA executives for doing such an outstanding job organizing our fundraising initiatives this year, including a new Direct Donation Campaign with a December Launch date. Our next BPMPA meeting is January 24 where we expect to hear an update on this critical initiative after a very special Digital Citizenship Presentation by Constable Duchaney. January 24th we invite parents to attend a 6-7pm presentation, 7-7:30 parent council meeting, and  7:30-8 BPMPA.

On that note, quick reminder to parents about Dwayne Peace’s parent session, which happens on Nov 29 at 6:30 where he will share the work he’s been doing with our student community through our Health and Wellness program.
