Residencies, Clubs, Survey

Dear Parents & Guardians,
The month of January is often associated with resolutions and goal setting and many of our classes started out the calendar year by setting new goals. Students have settled nicely into their learning and have a clear sense of where they are going next. As always, our goal is to have each student experience success every day.
We are pleased to report that our residency work with One World Drumming in January was a great success. It was a pleasure welcoming many families to our energetic and entertaining culminating performance last week. Our sincere thanks go to our School Council and Parent Association for funding this valuable learning experience.
Students are looking forward to our upcoming residency with Alien Inline Skating, which will take place from Febuary 4-8. Each class will have three 45 minute skating classes. Once again, we extend our appreciation to our School Council and Parent Assoiciation for generously supporting this valuable in-school activity.
We have a number of clubs that have recently launched, including intramurals for Grades 5 and 6; the Cleaning Caring Club (CCC), for Grades 1-6, a newsletter club (Grades 4-6), and a Ukelele Club. Please see the student write-ups further on in this newsletter for additional information.
From mid-January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey. In January, parents/guardians of students in Grades 4 to 6 should have received their survey in the mail from Alberta Education. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving. Alberta Education and the Calgary Board of Education thank you for returning the parent Accountability Pillar Survey promptly. Please find more detailed information about this survey on page 2 of this newsletter.
Sincerely,
Stephen Hart, Principal
