Thank you Kindergarten, Fire Cleanup, Events This Week | May 27-31, 2019 Update

I think we can all agree that last week was a once in a lifetime adventure. We were able to celebrate with our Kindergarten students during their assembly, celebrate our many volunteers who help make our school a better place and demonstrate our resilience with the outcome of the fire. Thank you Kindergarten students for your dance, slide show and more. Thank you also to the many performers who shared our appreciation to the volunteers that [...]

Principal's Message

Meet the Teacher / Open House /

What a great second week of school, even with the drop in temperatures.  The changes in color are amazing!
Thank you to the many new faces we met at our first school council/parent association meeting last Thursday evening. Some updates were shared regarding the outdoor classroom and its completion date as well as plans for future events at the school.  Please check out the Buffalo Rubbing Stone School Parent Association facebook page for further information and some important dates.
This upcoming Thursday, Sept. 20 we will host our Meet the Teacher night. For the Kindergarten students the sessions will be pre-booked. The teachers work as a team within the Kindergarten department and have shared the students to allow a spot for every student’s family.  Please check with the teachers to see who you are to book your meeting with.  Also it is a great idea to bring your child so they can show you around their learning space. The times for the Kindergarten meetings are from 8:00 until 2:30 and again between 3:30 and 7:30. Since the meetings occur through the day time hours, there is no school for Kindergarten students on Thursday Sept. 20. After your meeting time, please check out the rest of the school locations such as the music room, gym and the Learning Commons. Please be aware though that the rest of the school will be in session therefore you might just have to peek into the gym and music classrooms. Thank you.
For the students in grades 1 – 4 the Meet the Teacher will occur as an open house format.  Since many of the families already know the teachers from the previous year the decision to attend is up to you. The times for the open house are from 3:30 to 7:30 on a drop in basis.  It is also a great idea to bring your child to the open house, again so they can share with you their learning spaces.  We look forward to seeing you again at BRS.
During the open house times, we would like to survey you as to how you best enjoy hearing about what is happening in your child’s classroom. There will be some choices for you to choose as well as some feedback as to what works best in your schedule.  The choices will include blogs, twitter and more.
Every year we ask parents to update their demographic page to ensure the school has the most up to date information such as phone numbers etc... With the new system the demographic pages are very long and will consume a great deal of paper. We are hoping to have you update your information on a computer while you are at the open house. If you have time, please stop at one of the updating stations and we will help you get all of your information correct within the system. Thank you in advance.
IF you are planning not to attend the open house, we will send the demographic pages home with your child.
Friday, Sept. 21 is a system professional development day and therefor no school for any of the students. The staff will be participating in a number of sessions throughout the day.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me by telephone or email and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you
Cheers,Cathy
