June 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Wow, it has been a fantastic year at C N Gunn and it is hard to believe June is upon us and our school year will be coming to an end before we know it. We want to thank everyone that is connected in one way or another to supporting the work and learning that happens here at Catherine Nichols Gunn. A special thank you to our parents who day in and day out help their children to be successful at school. The many things like getting to school on time, packing a healthy lunch to reading together all make a difference in your child’s life. The little things do matter and make a difference. Thank you!

Our Grade six students will be saying farewell to Catherine Nichols Gunn very soon as they move on to Junior High. Most of our students will attend Sir John A. Macdonald which students have had the opportunity to visit this spring. We will have a farewell celebration on Tuesday, June 26th at 10:30am. Afterwards families are invited to the grade six classrooms for cake and juice. The last day of school is June 28th and there is an early dismissal that day at 11:20am. We will be having a yearend assembly at 9:30am on the 28th and all families are welcome.

Staffing is an ongoing process and we will provide a more detailed update of our staff for next year at the end of June however I can share what we know at this point. We will have three full day kindergarten classes and 15 classes in grade 1-6. We are excited to confirm Ms. Kraus and Mrs. Sparks Will who have accepted continuous contracts with the CBE and positions here at C. N. Gunn. We will update our staff list at the end on June at which time we will be able to confirm more staffing information. We also would like to remind parents that our school hours are changing next year and school will run from 8:30am to 3:00pm with 12:06pm-1:00pm for lunch.

I want wish you all a successful end to the school year and a fun and safe summer. If there are any questions for teachers/staff please connect with them as needed during June. We welcome any new families that have join use this spring and wish all the best to everyone else as they plan for the new school year in August.

Sincerely,

Steve Wigglesworth

Students & staff at Captain Nichola Goddard School are doing the Green Commuting Challenge School. By changing their commuting habits they have not only reduced traffic but have become more active citizens and reduced their carbon footprint https://t.co/RgwQXOSFHr #WeAreCBE https://t.co/ynlovLjOQP
