Principal's Message

CJM Message

It is hard to believe that we have been at school for five weeks already! Chief Justice Milvain School staff have been focusing on building flexible learning spaces in the classrooms, creating a sense of community and belonging with each and every student. Through a sense of belonging the staff are engaging students in meaningful learning experiences.
On September 20, we had our first Open House. It was wonderful to see so many families at the school. Parent and/or guardian input is critical when making educational programming decisions and we would love to have every family connect with their child’s teacher. If you were unable to attend the September Open House, the office staff can help to arrange an alternate time to communicate with your child’s teacher.
It is very important that we have clear communication between home and school. Teachers are using folders to send home information this year. We will not be using agendas. If you have an important note for the teacher, please put it in the folder that will go to and from school. We are also blogging as a way to share the learning in the classroom. We will continue to use SchoolMessenger to communicate school-wide information. Each week we have be sending out our CJM News through the SchoolMessenger. Additionally, please check the school website for important updates.
We are looking forward to continuing to build a sense of community at CJM! One of the ways we will be doing this is through monthly assemblies where the entire school community comes together to celebrate learning. Our first assembly with be on Thursday, November 1st in the afternoon. Stay tuned for more information.
Our first School Council and CJM’s Fundraising Society meeting is on Tuesday, November 6th at 6:00 pm in the Learning Commons. ALL parents are welcomed! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet other parents and find out how you can get involved in supporting CJM. This year we will be inviting teachers to present at these meetings so that you can get a snapshot of the learning happening in your child’s classroom.
