Principal's Message

Personalized Learning, Communication,

What guides our work at a system level (CBE Organization) and what are we doing specifically at Chinook Park School to support this work?
The Calgary Board of Education is guided by a Three-Year Education Plan which connects each CBE employee to student success. The main pillars of the plan include personalization of learning, stewarding our resources, building professional capital and engaging stakeholders. Personalized learning includes a focus on literacy, mathematics, indigenous education and high school success.
At Chinook Park, our staff work hard to personalize learning for students taking them from where they are at in September and developing their character, citizenship and academic growth. Meaningful tasks are created to engage students and timely and specific feedback is provided, ensuring students know their next steps in learning. In addition, this year, our School Development Plan will target both literacy and mathematics strategies as a focus of professional growth for our teachers, thereby impacting student success. We will be continuing our work with Elder Randy Bottle throughout the year to build upon our work from last year on Indigenous protocols, history, storytelling and residential schools.
We will be continuing to engage with our parents and students this year through a variety of communication (email, conferences, school activities, etc.) and on a variety of topics such as our Learning Commons Revitalization, Indigenous education, the School Development Plan, etc. We are especially fortunate to be working with a supportive School Council that helps our collective community by organizing initiatives, such as the Welcome Back BBQ and fundraising. A special thank you to Rachelle Klukus and her team for coordinating a successful BBQ. Fun was had by all!
October will be another busy month with the Grade 6 students going to Outdoor School, field trips and school-wide presentations by Frisbee Rob and Elder Randy Bottle.
Thank you, parents, for your continued support! As always feel free to reach out with compliments, questions and concerns.
