Regular Program at the CBE

Even though most of our schools offer a regular program, no two are quite the same. All schools teach according to Alberta Education’s mandated curriculum, however a school’s focus, optional courses and school activities are as unique as every school.

Learning at Coventry Hills School

Work with character education, daily physical activity, fine arts programming, as well as co-curricular clubs contribute to and strengthen both the learning and community building at Coventry Hills School.

Last year, our teaching staff participated in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in support of our school development plan, specifically working on designing increasingly meaningful, purposeful, real-world tasks for students that were aligned with the Programs of Study. A goal of this type of task design was for students to be able to identify and communicate their learning targets/outcomes and the purpose of the task.

Homework

It is recommended that all Grades 1 to 3 students do additional home study. This may include practice reading, math facts, completion of daily class assignments, or work on special projects. We recommend approximately 15 minutes of daily home study for students in Grades 1 and 2 and 20 minutes for students in Grade 3. We believe that the development of good work and study habits at the elementary level will promote success and confidence in ensuing school years.
