Principal's Message

March/April 2019

Hello Families. It is hard to believe it is already March. Let’s hope that means that Spring is on the way! We have so many interesting and unique activities coming up in March and April.
We are very pleased to see students who are dressed appropriately for the weather during these cold days that we have been having lately. Dressing in layers and wearing warm jackets, snow pants, winter boots, hats and gloves or mittens is very important. If your family needs help to acquire any of these items, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school for support. As the weather is always variable at this time of year and can change from cold to warm to cooler again, we recommend that children dress in layers and bring all the outdoor clothes they may need for playing in cooler temperatures, including snow and slush.
We are excited to participate in a Dance Residency through Pulse Studios! Students will have the opportunity to learn about Hip Hop dancing every day over the 6 day residency. We will have two opportunities for parents to see the dance routines that their child has learned. On Thursday, March 14, the Dance Showcase will happen at 1:30pm and 6:30pm. Please watch for an invitation with information specific related to your child’s class to come home soon.
Student-led Conferences will take place on the evening of Thursday, March 21 and in the morning on Friday, March 22. Please take time to sign up on the conference manager for your appointment time. The conference manager opens at 6:00am on Thursday, March 14. These conferences require your child to attend with you so that they can demonstrate the learning opportunities and achievements they have made since January.
We are pleased to participate in the fantastic Swim for Life program in April!
Students in Mrs. Dhillon’s, Mrs. Cavanagh’s, Ms. Garrah’s, Mrs. Peterson’s, Ms. Engelman’s and Ms. Shihab’s classes will participate on April 8, 9, 10 & 11
Students in Mr. Meuser’s, Ms. Araki’s, Ms. LaBerge’s, Ms. Dron’s, Mrs. Paterson’s and Ms. Finn’s classes will participate on April 15, 16, 17 & 18.  Please ensure that you carefully read the letter from your child’s teacher to know what students need to bring on their swim days.
We will be having a special Music Assembly in April that will highlight the skills and creativity that students have been developing this year in our music program. An inviatation will be coming home soon!
You will receive a letter at the Student Led Conferences inviting you to a presentation from Calgary Police Service Constable Carter Duchesney who will be speaking with parents on Monday, April 15 at 6:30pm at the school regarding how to keep your children safe online. We hope you will join us for this important and informative presentation.
