Today was our grade 3/4 assembly and students showcased some of their learning about the countries of Peru, India, Tunisia and the Ukraine. Additionally, Mr. Kowalchuck’s ukulele band performed. I am so proud of our students during performances such as these! Among other things, opportunities for presentations and performances such as these build responsible risk-taking in students, enhance self-confidence, and require teamwork. Performing a song or speaking in front of an audience can bring fear and anxiety. Doing so teaches kids how to take risks and deal with fear, which will help them become successful and reach their potential. Performance opportunities also build self-confidence: With encouragement from teachers and parents, students performing, singing or playing a musical instrument can build pride and confidence. Performing with a large group also requires teamwork to perform a selection and students learn how to work together and build camaraderie. Bravo, Glenbrook students, bravo!
