Principal's Message

Website Update

As I write this message, I am thinking about the school year ahead.  A lot of changes for our school and a lot of changes for me personally.
This year, our Mandarin Program will have 75 students from Grade 5-8.  Our regular program includes students in graded 7-9 will have approximately 225 students.  This gives us approximately 300 total students for the year.  We have added one new teacher to our staff, as well we are on the hunt for a couple of other new teachers who we hope to add this week.  I am pleased to welcome Steven Privat who is a math and science teacher to our staff and will announce other additions as the year progresses.
On Tuesday, we will welcome our students by introducing them to their home room teacher, providing each student with a locker and a timetable and we will take them through a short run through of their schedules.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30 and buses are scheduled to take students home.  Please ask your child to bring a pen or pencil with them.  On Wednesday, we will have a regular school day  We are looking forward to seeing the students we know and getting to know the students who are new to our school.
In September, we will start our Jr and Sr volleyball teams.  We also will welcome all the students who want to be part of X-country team.   Volleyball and X-country are open to student in grades 6-9.
On September 16th, our grade 8 students will be going to Camp Horizon for an over night stay.  The students will be involved in team building activities including ropes courses and giant swings.  Please return field trip forms as soon as possible.  We will schedule a parent meeting prior to the trip with the expectations that all students attending the trip will have a parent present at the meeting.
On a personal note, I am retiring from the CBE at the end of November. The process of finding the next principal will begin in early September.  I hope to have the opporunity to have transition time with the new Principal.  I will try to keep you up to date as regularly as possible.  I also will do all I can to leave the school in the best shape I can.  I have very much enjoyed my time as the proud Principal of Harold Panaker School

Students & staff at Captain Nichola Goddard School are doing the Green Commuting Challenge School. By changing their commuting habits they have not only reduced traffic but have become more active citizens and reduced their carbon footprint https://t.co/RgwQXOSFHr #WeAreCBE https://t.co/ynlovLjOQP

Due to the weather conditions, some sr. high athletics events may be cancelled this evening. All other activities, jr. high athletics and regularly scheduled events will run as normal, unless you are notified by your school. CBE buildings will remain open as scheduled. #yycbe
