Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.


First Day of Classes 

Our first day of classes is Sept. 3, 2019 and the school office is open to parents on Aug. 28, 2019.

All students are asked to meet on the East School Field on September 3rd.  There will be posters with grades on the school fence indicating to students/families where to meet their teachers.  All staff will be on the East School Field starting at 8:30 am with their class list.  Students will then proceed into the school at 8:45 am with their teachers.  Kindergarten students will meet at the Northwest parking lot doors (located by the staff parking under the “Girls” sign). Thank you for your understanding and know that your child/children are in good hands with us.

Our Welcome "Hut" - School Council/Society

A “Welcome Hut” is hosted by the Hillhurst School Council/Society to welcome our new families and re-connect with existing ones.  Please stop by and introduce yourself if you are new as you will be warmly welcomed by our parents with some treats!

Noon Supervision 

Our Noon Supervision is from 12:15 PM to 12:57 PM students bring their own lunches and eat in their classroom. After eating lunch, student go outside for lunch recess.

Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families after the start of the school year in September and October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and noon supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​

Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2019-20 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

In October, a confirmation email will be sent to all parents/guardians who have submitted a pre-registration, if the parent/guardian has subscribed to receive messages. It will include transportation fee information (if applicable) and payment options (if applicable). Families can cancel their pre-registration with no financial penalty using MyCBE / PowerSchool by Oct. 31, 2019.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.​​​
