Dramatic Productions (Media Technology) 15, 25, and 35

Students will explore and specialize in a variety of skill-sets connected to television and film production.  Dramatic performances, effective camera techniques, and non-linear computer editing, allow for a hands on approach to “lights, camera, action.”  With an eye towards post-secondary courses, Dramatic Productions will introduce the disciplines of T.V. and film production.  

Examples of Pathways: Amateur Photographer, Animator, Adobe Certified Expert, E-commerce, Internet Computing

Art 10-4, 20-4, and 30-4

Art courses are designed to teach occupational knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in art, design and media communications by developing employability competencies that relate to all career paths. Art/Design provides students with an understanding of, and an opportunity for students to practise techniques and the effective use of media and equipment. These skills will enable students to illustrate visual solutions to situations they encounter in any career field.

Examples of Pathways: Computer-Aided Design and Drafting, Green Building

Design and Construction, Interior Decorating, Landscaping

Digital Design 10/20/30 (Photography & Art Media 10-4, 20-4, and 30-4)

Art/Media focuses on the use of digital technology, such as 3-D animation and Adobe products, to create multimedia visual art projects.  Art/Media 10-4 students will be introduced to software, as well as basic photography.  Intermediate and advanced students will continue to develop projects, utilizing their photography and computer skills, which will be showcased through the school’s television network, as well as other public venues.

Fashion Studies 10-4, 20-4, and 30-4

Fabrics courses are designed to teach occupational knowledge and skills for entry level positions in fashion and industrial textiles by developing employability competencies that relate to all career paths. Fabrics 10-4 provides a basis for, and an introduction to, Fashion Textiles 20-4 and Fashion Textiles 30-4 which focus on pattern selection and garment construction.

Examples of Pathways: Fashion Designer, Theatre Costume Designer, Costume Sewing, Advanced Stitcher
