Football

JCS will be running a junior and a senior football team this year.  Tryout information:

Junior Football (Grade 10)

Monday, August 26th

  • Equipment Pickup @ JCS 12:00 to 2:30pm – No Practice

Tuesday, August 27th 

  • Equipment Pickup @ JCS 2:00 to 3:00 Practice @ 4:30pm

Senior Football (Grade 11 and 12) 

Monday August 26th, Tuesday August 27th and Wednesday August 28th  - 4:30pm Tryouts

Volleyball

  • Wednesday August 28th, 3:30pm – Junior and Senior Girls.  5:30pm – Junior and Senior Boys
  • Thursday, August 29th, 3:30pm – Junior and Senior Boys.  5:30pm Junior and Senior Girls.  

Golf

Golf will meet September 6th.  Tryouts are open to males and females.  Email Garry Tink at gctink@cbe.ab.ca if you have questions. 

Cross Country

Cross country information meeting to be held after school Wednesday Sept 5th in the Sports Medicine Room.  Open to all grades.

Girls Soccer

Girls’ soccer tryouts will begin Wednesday, August 28th.  Girls will meet on the field by the student parking lot.  3:30 registration with tryouts beginning at 4:00.  Second tryout will be Thursday August 29th at 4:00 pm. Open to all grades.


Athletes will not be allowed to try out if they do not return the Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout form.  Athletes should bring their form with them to the tryout like they would bring a ticket with them to an event.  Please do not hand in the forms with other school forms.  The form should be delivered directly to the coach of that specific team.  If an athlete plans to try out for more than one team, please fill out a separate form for each team.  You can find the form on our website, the PE office and the Main office.  For more updates, please go to our website or email me at awsandbeck@cbe.ab.ca.

Transferring From a Different High School?

Any student athlete who has been registered in a CSHSAA high school must get an Athletic Transfer Acknowledgement Form Signed by the sending school principal and our principal.  This form acknowledges that both schools are aware of your transfer and interest in athletics at your receiving school.  IT DOES NOT GUARANTEE ELIGIBILITY.  Acceptable reason for transfer are on page 2.  Form is in the resources section on the side of the page.

CSHSAA

Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School is a member of the Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association. This association has been a governing body for high school sports in Calgary since January 14,1913. The Calgary Senior High School Athletic Association (CSHSAA) believes that the interscholastic program , as a recognized part of the school program is educationally sound and will enhance the physical, mental, emotional and social development of young people.

 

                                                           

Joane Cardinal-Schubert is also a member of the (Alberta Schools Athletic Association) The ASAA is a voluntary non-profit organization that has been established to coordinate a program of worthwhile athletic activities for the young people of Alberta in an educational setting. The ASAA provides direction in the area of equitable competition and ethical standards for all involved in the provincial high school championships.
