Principal's Message

Message of Thanks

Dear QES Families,
Wow. Our last day of school for 2019-20.  I don’t think any of us could have imagined the year we have had together.  Today is a celebration of resilience and fortitude in this wild journey of remote-learning at home.  I want to extend my deepest thanks for your support and commitment in helping your child continue their learning.  I have appreciated all the stories, pictures, videos, highs and lows that have been shared with me.  I sincerely appreciate all of the efforts families have made to stay connected with their teachers and demonstrate such tremendous support for our QES community.
I want to extend my thanks to the Grade 6 parent community who supported our efforts for a “Virtual Assembly” and to Mr. Tinaburri for his outstanding video shared yesterday.  When faced with many restrictions, our parent community went above and beyond to support each other and our students.
I also want to give a great big virtual “high five” to all members of our parent community that volunteered at the school this year for various activities and functions.  We could not provide the programming we do without the wonderful support of volunteers.  To our School Council and Parent Society team, you are all amazing.  It has been my privilege to join this community and I could not have entered into this work without the help and support of Stephanie Washbrook, Council Chair.  Stef’s dedication to QES is truly remarkable, and deeply appreciated.  She is stepping down from her role next year, but will remain part of our pack!  I am excited to welcome the new members to our School Council/QEEPES team and look forward to having more parents and guardians join us in the fall.
As we look ahead to 2020-21, decisions surrounding which of the three Alberta Education Re-Entry scenarios we will be under are expected by August 1. Families will be kept informed from CBE Communications over the summer and communication directly related to QES will resume when our office opens on August 26th.  Rest assured that we are all working diligently and collaboratively to support re-entry planning and we look forward to seeing our kiddos again soon.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer, thank you for a memorable first year!
Stay healthy, stay safe, and take the best care,
Cristin MarrPrincipal
