School Improvement

On November 1, at our last School Council meeting, I was able to share our school results from last year and our ongoing work for this year through our School Development Plan. School Development Plans set the overall focus and direction for the school to improve a student learning outcome connected with the school’s results. The plan is developed after carefully looking at our previous school years’ data, which includes report card marks, Provincial Achievement Test results, our Accountability Pillar reports and other school assessment information and then determining how to best support student learning. Staff, student and parent voice through feedback is important and helps to shape our plan for this year. We know that when we all work closely together; students achieve greater success in their learning.
Thank you to parents for attending conferences in October and for having on-going conversations with teachers about your child’s learning.  Although our teachers do an amazing job of touching base with parents and sharing assessment feedback on an on-going basis, if at any time you feel that more communication is necessary, please call and set up a meeting.  We want all of our families to know that each student is unique and has individual goals to help move their learning forward which you can support at home.  Your child’s progress relies on us working as a team to have a clear understanding of strengths and needs and a growth-minded direction to focus our work for the remainder of the year.  Using both formative and summative assessment data, your teacher can show you clear examples of where your child is working currently and where we would like to move their learning by report card time.  Our school’s development plan supports this work directly in focusing on school improvement in reading comprehension and numeracy.  You will find the Annual School Results Report, the Provincial Testing Multi-Year Report and the School Development Plan on the Our School-About Us tab and the Annual Fee Report for Parents under Registration-Fees.  These will be posted by November 30, 2018.
