Principal's Message

Summer Principal's Message

Dear SWL Students and Families,
We have come to the conclusion of our school year and I wish you and your children a wonderful summer vacation!  Report cards will go home on Thursday and thus far, I am quite pleased with the final examination scores I am hearing about.  Our students have worked hard and learned many lessons this year; they are young adolescents learning to find their way in an exciting and complex world.  As teachers, we find this period in their life to be so very exciting and my hope is your child is better, stronger and well equipped to face new challenges from their time at SWL.
Please remember to return overdue library and textbooks prior to report card day.  Students with overdue library and textbooks have been notified at school and by e-mail and payment for lost books can be made by cheque, cash or with Interac at the school.  Please contact the office if you have any concerns or questions.
We are sorry to say goodbye to Ms. Quinlan and Ms. Korman who will be moving to TB Riley Junior High in the fall.   We also say goodbye to Ms. Popp, Assistant Principal, and wish her the very best in her retirement. I am very thankful for their service to students.  Joining us from TB Riley Junior High is Ms. Soraya Elwenni who brings experience, expertise and a strong passion for math and science learning.  I am in the process of interviewing for an Assistant Principal and look forward to introducing him/her to you in the very near future.
Thank you for your tremendous support and for putting your trust in us in service to the education of your children.  It is an absolute pleasure to be the principal at Sir Wilfrid Laurier!
SWL students…enjoy your summer, play lots, read some books, drink slurpees, and bring your heart, your laughter and your enthusiasm back to school with you this fall.
Sincerely Yours,
Daryl Martin Principal
