Principal's Message

Year End Message June 2019

Another school year has come to a close.  On behalf of the staff of Sundance School, we wish our students and staff a farewell as they “move camp” from their elementary school days to Junior High.  Our students continuing in French Immersion will move on to David Thompson and we have others who have chosen alternate schools. We would like to wish all of our families a safe, restful and relaxing holiday.  We have had a wonderful time at Sundance School and wish all of you a fabulous summer while you spend time with your friends and families.
Staffing Update
The hardest part of this time of year is the many goodbyes as staff members move on to new opportunities. While it is sad to say farewell – we know that there are amazing adventures on the horizon for all of our amazing staff.
We would like to say goodbye and a sincere thank you to the following teachers for their hard work at Sundance School.  They have inspired and supported our students over the years and will be greatly missed. Their impact on staff and students will be the legacy they leave behind.
Firstly, we would like to thank Mme Christina Matthews and her commitment to our grade 2 students. We wish her all the best as she continues to work as a teacher for CBE.  Maybe we will see her back in our halls and classrooms next year at Sundance School.
We also say thank you and farewell to our beloved Mme Tracy Evans.  Since arriving at Sundance, she has taught grade 3 and has been a Learning Leader supporting teaching and learning at Sundance. She leaves us to work in a new role as part of the Indigenous Learning Leader cohort. We know this work is near and dear to her heart and she will be a great asset to all who will work alongside Mme Evans.  We will miss her creativity, her kindness and commitment to the students.
Lastly, we say farewell to our wonderful Assistant Principal Mme Christine Stiles. She will be the new Assistant Principal at William Reid and will be much closer to home. She is very excited about this opportunity and I know she will be missed here at Sundance, but will inspire new friends at William Reid.  We thank her for her positivity, her energy and connections she has made over her years at Sundance.
Welcome Back:
We would like to extend a warm welcome back to Mme. Allie Roy, M. Jordan Cameron and Mme Megan Wong. who will be able to stay with us at Sundance.  Mme Allie will be teaching grade 4, M Jordan, grade 6 and Mme Megan will be teaching grade 2.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our School Council and our wonderful parent volunteers this year. We had many successful events this year and the impact clearly made a difference for our students and staff! From our school wide events, Welcome Back Stampede Breakfast, Halloween, Spring Dance, Winter and Spring Concerts, providing food for the staff among many others to classroom support such as Field Trips, presentations and behind the scenes work for those who can’t make it into the school.  We appreciate all that you do to support our students so they have memories to cherish for a lifetime of fun and learning experiences, which they will carry forward with them for years to come!
It has been a fabulous year at Sundance School as students engaged in many great adventures and learning opportunities. We want to take the time to say farewell to those families who are leaving Sundance School and let you know that we wish you all the best as you move to new schools. To those who are coming back in September, we look forward to another great year with you all. Enjoy your summer and take the time to do what you love the most.
