Volunteer with Us

We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. Contact us about ways you can volunteer with our school.

Visit the CBE website for more information on volunteering, including the required registration and Police Information Check. (Please note, guest speakers or visitors to the school, and parents/guardians assisting their own child only are not considered to be volunteers and do not require a police information check.)

Volunteering for an Off-Site Activity

If you want to volunteer for an off-site activity, please keep in mind:

  • Volunteers on an activity are considered representatives of the Calgary Board of Education and are subject to the same expectations as staff

  • Volunteers are subject to the requirements of CBE Administrative Regulation 5003 – Volunteers, which includes an application and a police security screening check

  • Volunteers are covered by the CBE’s liability insurance policy while performing their assigned duties

  • Volunteers are covered by WCB while performing their duties

  • Volunteers receive direction from and are accountable to the teacher-in-charge

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION |

Dear Parents and Friends:

Our Bishop Pinkham Volunteer Coordinator Carol Collinge is looking for interested volunteers who would like to share their time and talents with the staff and students of our school. Volunteers strengthen and enrich educational programs and foster greater cooperation among all the partners in our school community. Our school welcomes volunteer involvement in a variety of areas and capacities. Volunteers may provide a short-term or long-term commitment to such things as supervising on school excursions, serving as a guest speaker, or helping to run special events such as fun lunch and Bookfair. By submitting your responses to the interest form and sending Carol an email, you are giving both the School Council and Your child’s Homeroom Parent permission to contact you about volunteer activities and other class events. It also provides us with a chance to maintain our Bishop Pinkham email distribution list accurately. Please complete this form http://bit.ly/volunteerinforma... (web-address) AND email collinge.ca@gmail.com to support this initiative by volunteering and/or receiving room parent updates. If you are just interested in learning more about volunteering in our school, Carol would be delighted to hear from you at email collinge.ca@gmail.com.

Please also note that for onsite volunteering, CBE will require a recorded police check which can be started at the school at no cost to the parents.  To do this, you need one piece of  government issued ID with a picture.  It takes about 5 minutes to generate the information required to complete a police clearance. For off-site volunteers, such as room parents who communicate out information but don’t volunteer at school events a police clearance is not required (perfect for working parents!)

We genuinely appreciate your dedication to supporting your child’s education at Bishop Pinkham.

We are always open to suggestions that have not been identified. Please contact Carol, if you have any ideas. There are many volunteer opportunities and different ways to get involved; please be a part of Bishop Pinkham School!

Kind regards,

Carol Collinge
