The student’s name should be on items of clothing and other personal property. This is most important in determining ownership of similar items. The school does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property. Labels may be purchased through Mabel's Labels, which is a Canyon Meadows School Society Fundraising Committee initiative. Proceeds are directly forwarded back to the school to fund special projects and initiatives.

Lost and Found Items are placed in the bins located at student entry doors. Students should check the Lost and Found frequently. Unclaimed items are sent to charity throughout the year. Money, jewelry and books should be turned in at the office for safekeeping. Valuables should be left at home.

Backpacks

Provide your child with a tote bag or backpack that is large enough to accommodate all of their school supplies, lunches, etc. Backpacks are kept in classrooms, on hooks, or in lockers.

Indoor / Outdoor Footwear

A pair of running shoes with non-marking soles is required for in-school wear and physical education classes. Outdoor footwear is not acceptable inside the school. Students should wear shoes and socks while in the building for three important reasons:

  1. Emergency evacuation practices are held regularly. Students are not permitted to stop and put on shoes.
  2. A child’s foot is vulnerable to injury in a public building.
  3. Health and sanitation in a public building is maintained through use of footwear.

Toys, Games and Personal Electronics

We recommend that items such as games, toys, cards, iPod’s, iPad’s, etc., do not come to school as they may go missing. Some students have long bus rides and use electronic gadgets to provide entertainment to and from school. Please note that these items must remain in backpacks during school hours. Personal items used inappropriately in the classroom will be confiscated and later released to the parent. Content on these devices should be appropriate for school use.

Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards and Heelies

For safety reasons and to comply with the law, we expect helmets will be worn when riding bikes. Scooters, skateboards and heelies are not allowed on CBE Property.

Use of Cell Phones

The school strongly recommends that students not bring cell phones to school.  If a student does come to school with a cell phone, it must:

  • Be clearly labeled with the child’s name
  • Be turned off during school hours
  • Remain in student backpacks

The school does not accept responsibility for lost or stolen cell phones.
