Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.


First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes for all students is Sept. 3, 2019. We will follow regular hours starting on the first day of school. The school office is open to parents on Aug. 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM.

School Start & End Times

Grades 1-6

  • Monday to Thursday 8:40 AM – 12:12 PM
  • Lunch Break 12:12 PM – 1:00 PM
  • Friday and Early Dismissal 8:40 AM – 12:30 PM

Kindergarten

Half-day Kindergarten Monday - Friday

  • 8:40 AM – 11:25 AM

School Supplies 

On the first day, students should come with:

  • 1 pair of well-fitting indoor shoes appropriate for gym use
  • backpack
  • lunch kit
  • water bottle

Please label student belongings with first name or initials.

Noon Supervision

Colonel Walker School offers a CBE run lunch program. Registration for noon supervision can be done online

Drop in is available at $5.00 per visit for those who want to stay occasionally. Please provide a nut aware lunch that does not require cooking or heating. For students who go home for lunch, they can return to the school between 12:45 - 1:00 PM when outside supervision is available.

Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families after the start of the school year in September and October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and noon supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.

Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2019-20 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

In October, a confirmation email will be sent to all parents/guardians who have submitted a pre-registration, if the parent/guardian has subscribed to receive messages. It will include transportation fee information (if applicable) and payment options (if applicable). Families can cancel their pre-registration with no financial penalty using MyCBE / PowerSchool by Oct. 31, 2019.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.​​​
