One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Under the School Act, a parent society is a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. The school principal is not part of this group. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.

Our Parent Society is Known as the

Friends of Connaught Community School Association.

All event fundraising activities are managed by the Association. Fundraising activities for 2019-2020 will be shared soon.

Council updates | June 2019

Casino Results

The Friends of Connaught Community School Association are very excited to share with you that the fundraising casino from December 2018 has raised $65,000 for the school! The School Council will continue to work closely with Mrs Bezugley to ensure that the funds  are allocated to the areas of most need within our learning community. Stay tuned for updates of where and how we are spending this money! Thank you again to all of the parents and friends who helped us to staff the casino. It was a pleasure getting to know you all, and I hope we can count on you for our next casino, scheduled for December 2021!

Future Casino Volunteer Chairperson

If you loved your time volunteering for the casino, and are a whiz at organizing people, then I encourage you to volunteer to be the Casino Chairperson for the 2021 casino. I am happy to work with you between now and then to prepare for the casino. Please email me if you are interested in taking on this responsibility. Thank you!

2019-20 School Year Council Members

It's also that time of year where we are soliciting new leadership for School Council. After many years as the School Council Chairperson, I am stepping down to let someone else lead the School Council for the 2019-2020 School Year.

I am so excited to announce that James Teterenko, current parent at Connaught School, has agreed to take on the Chair, School Council role for the 2019-2020 school year. James has been a loyal attendee and contributor to School Council over the past few years, as well as a dedicated volunteer for pizza and popcorn days.

Thank you James for taking on this important role!

Fundraising Society update

The Parent Society is the fundraising group associated with Connaught School, and is primarily responsible for managing the Casino. Jordan Hamilton and Danielle Wallace, who are both current parents at Connaught, have agreed to take on leadership roles with the Society. With Jordan and Danielle stepping in, long-time members Mike Hokansen and Mike Stanfield will be able to take on supporting roles. Thank you Mike H & Mike S for your help in bringing the casino to the school! More information will come in September.

Volunteer Opportunities

As always, please keep your eyes open for volunteer opportunities around the school. We will put out a call for volunteers to help with the Spring Celebration, pizza day, multicultural potluck and popcorn day. We can’t do these great events without you!
