Crossing Park Dance Team

The Crossing Park Dance Team is part of the athletic teams available to Grades 7, 8 and 9.

Those who are interested in being on the team must  complete an audition where they are asked to learn and perform set choreography in a short time frame. The audition is much like a try out for any other athletic team at our school, it happens at the beginning of the year and the team is then picked and set for the remainder of the year.

Members of the team are selected based on skill, technique, coach-ability, and overall citizenship in our school. Once on the team, dancers participate in weekly practices where they learn choreography to perform at various events such as, welcome back bbq, Remembrance Day assembly, Volleyball and Basketball half time shows, and Fine Arts showcase.

The biggest event for the Crossing Park Dance Team is the East Side Dance Festival where dance programs from various High School’s come together in a competitive showdown of various dance styles. This event takes place at the prestigious Decidedly Jazz Dance Studio in downtown Calgary, where dancer’s can battle it out for awards and scholarships to train with some of Calgary’s best instructors and dance groups.

Commitment and dedication is key to being on any Crossing Park athletic team and it is required that dancer’s of the team remain as outstanding citizens of our school and our team. Hope to see you at our auditions!
