Upgrading

Students are able to complete their high school diploma, take extra courses, increase marks or supplement their schedule through Chinook Learning Services. Teacher-instructed Classroom Learning courses are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings. Choose from our wide range of credit courses.

​Summer School at the CBE

The Calgary Board of Education has summer school opportunities that allow high school students to: 

  • Upgrade courses

  • Take a course that doesn’t fit in your schedule during the school year

  • Gain valuable work experience while earning credits

We offer summer school through Chinook Learning Services. Summer school classes fill up quickly, so register early to avoid disappointment.

Provincial Diploma Exams usually occur during the first two weeks of August. Schedules are subject to change by Alberta Education at any time. For up-to-date information visit the Alberta Education ​webpage.

Online Learning at CBe-learn

CBe-learn​ offers a variety of online high school core and complementary courses during the summer. Online learning allows you the flexibly to take one summer school course to help you catch up, keep up, or get ahead.​​​​​​

Registration to Chinook Learning or CBe-learn

Step 1

April 29 at 8:00 AM the site will be live to book your appointment online to register in person. Classes fill quickly, so get your appointment ASAP. Use your camera and hover over the QR Code to get the link for Chinook Learning Services High School Registration.

Step 2

Decide the course you would like to take (based on your pre-requisites). If the course is full, is there an alternate course you’d like to take?

Step 3

Using the QR code (hovering your camera over the code) will take you to the form for you to complete. The form will be live and available on April 29 at 9:00 a.m. If you try to access the form prior to this date, it will say there is an error.

Step 4

One week prior to your appointment, come to Guidance to pick up your PIF (Pre-requisite Information Form).

Step 4

Take the PIF form to your appointment at Lord Shaughnessy High School. Bring a legal document – Birth Certificate, Canadian Citizenship Card, Passport. Pay your fee. Note: they will NOT accept Driver’s License or Alberta Health Care card.
