Principal's Message

Greetings from the Administration Team

Once again, the school year is quickly ending and sadly, we have to say farewell to our transitioning students who will be leaving Dr. Oakley. The last few weeks have flown by, as our students have been involved in writing Provincial Achievement Tests, participating in field trips, book swap, on-going school activities and year-end celebrations. Congratulations to all our students and families for raising over $7,500 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation through the Jump Rope for Heart campaign!
We would also like to congratulate all our students for their learning accomplishments this year. Dr. Oakley students are a very hard working group of young people who show incredible commitment to improving their literacy and technology skills. Their positive attitude towards learning and their enhanced literacy will lay the foundation for lifelong success. Almost half of our students start the school year as the ‘new kids on the block’, but now they have classrooms full of friends and a school that feels like home.

As we end our school year, 71 students will be leaving Dr. Oakley and returning to their community schools or program of choice. We will miss each of these students and their families, but are so proud of what these students have accomplished and feel confident that they will continue to be successful in their new schools.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers and support staff. Their on-going dedication and commitment to working as a team helps to ensure success for every learner. The expertise, patience and commitment to excellence that they bring daily to the classroom, affect each student in many special ways.

The final day of school for students will be early dismissal (1:00 pm). The final day for all Dr. Oakley students will be Wednesday June 26 (dismissal 1:00 pm). We wish all our students and their families a very restful, safe summer and look forward to seeing our returning students on Thursday August 15. All school times will remain the same for next year. We have included a copy of next year’s calendar with this newsletter for our returning students.
