All classroom doors are locked throughout the day as a safety and security measure. All outside doors, except the front door, are locked throughout the day. All visitors must come through the front door and sign in at the office. This way we know who has permission to be in our school. In order to ensure the safety and security of all students, no one is allowed to go to classrooms without first signing in at the office.

Fire Drills/Lockdowns

The school is required to have a minimum of six fire drills each school year. In addition, lockdown drills are held twice a year. These are designed to practice the procedures to follow if there is a threat either in or outside of the school. Parents or other visitors are expected to evacuate the building when the fire alarm is sounded and to follow directions and procedures if a lockdown is called.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.
 

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school via SchoolMessenger.
