Principal's Message

We are nearing the end of an exciting, eventful year.

We are nearing the end of an exciting, eventful year.  June is the month where we reflect back on the school year and celebrate our many achievements.  Our school is full of rich culture, diversity and learning opportunities and we are proud of our accomplishments this year.
We are PROUD of our school council and their great contribution to the students of Falconridge School. They have worked hard at raising funds through the Fun Lunch program to support the installation of a new sound system and to provide bussing for all of our field trips this year.  We would like to thank Kristyn Broadhead for her tireless efforts around fundraising as she “graduates” from Falconridge School this year. We are hopeful that someone will step up to fill her role as fundraising coordinator.
We are PROUD of the opportunity to share student learning with our EDC and Kindergarten families at our Family Orientated Programming nights.   We were also able to offer a free parenting course through Hull Family Services for our entire school community.  We had many parents attend our sharing nights to participate and understand the learning of their children.
We are PROUD of our students who continue to develop character and citizenship skills and strive to improve their academic achievement.  Students developed mathematical reasoning, using various strategies to show their thinking.  They delved into reading and writing for understanding. We will continue to work on math and literacy strategies in the New Year.
As we return to school in the fall, we will be PROUD of our new Learning Commons and Maker Space.  We were fortunate to receive a grant from EducationMatters that provided us with a way to update and improve a ‘tired’ library!  We are PROUD of the “Windows to our World” project, which is displayed in our front hall.   This project has received acclaim throughout North America for its insight into culture and English Language Learning.   The grade 1/2 students in Rooms 13, 15 and 17 contributed to beautifying the space between the portables.  Their “Dynamic Art” depicting interactions among plants, animals and humans in the watershed surround Calgary is PROUDLY hanging.  Both of these projects were also made possible by EducationMatters.
We are PROUD of our hardworking staff who is committed to student learning, student clubs and programs and all that they do for the learning community at Falconridge School.   It takes everyone working together to make Falconridge a school we are PROUD of!
