One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the School Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

In keeping with the belief that effective education involves home, school and community partnerships, Glenbrook maintains an active School Council. All parents are encouraged to attend meetings and to participate in their own way where contributions positively support the school’s goals and endeavours. Meetings are held regularly in the Learning Commons.

RT @cityofcalgary: It’s almost that time of year: students are heading back to school! Take extra caution in and around playground zones, and remember that the maximum speed in playground zones is 30 km/h, 7:30 am to 9 pm, 7 days/week. Passing isn’t permitted when the zone is in effect. https://t.co/48Aw3jZUgg
