Principal's Message

Thank you to all parents who were able to attend parent-teacher conferences.

Thank you to all parents who were able to attend parent-teacher conferences. We strive to work as a community and keep each other informed. Part of being informed is to access the online component of what the Calgary Board of Education has set up for parents. Through School Messenger we are able to send you email messages and text messages. This make great reminders of events that are coming up for you and your child. In the near future all report cards will be accessed on-line. We want you to be able to access your child’s information. All payments are accepted online. If you have not set up an account yet or have not signed up for the text messages please go to our website and you will find under More News a link that will take you to the location for getting an account.
The Grade 3/4 students had an opportunity to attend the festivities for the Grey Cup. This was a once in a life time experience for the students to see a sport that they might not have a lot of knowledge about and experience events around a celebration that is a part of Canadian culture. I heard students saying “Best field trip ever” and “That was so much fun!” Thank-you to all the volunteers that made this opportunity possible for our students.
Every school in Alberta publishes the goals that they are focussing on for the year. Visit our school website to see the goals we are focussing on for this year in our School Development Plan. We have three goals. The first one is reading for understanding, the second one is mathematical reasoning and the last one is helping students to improve their ability to engage in learning with confidence and persistence. Teachers meet weekly to plan, carry out and evaluate lessons that target these goals. Professional development for our staff is focussed around these goals. This information is shared at our School Council meetings. We encourage you to attend the School Council meetings so that you can be further informed about the work we do to help your child learn. The School Council meetings are held once a month on a Thursday night from 6:30-8:00.
