Principal's Message

December/January Principal Message

December is here and it is a busy month for The Hamptons School! We have report cards going home December 10 and interviews on December 13 and 14.  These interviews are very important as it provides time for parents, teachers and students to discuss the learning experiences that have happened over the past 3 months. We also have the Book Fair during interview time.  Parents and children alike enjoy buying the latest books.
We had our second School Council meeting on November 7.   We discussed the School Results Report and the School Development Plan.  At each meeting, a grade group of teachers presents on what is happening in their classrooms.  The grade 3 teachers presented this time.  The next meeting is January 30. Please come out and learn more about your school.
December always has many special events.  We will have a spirit day for the whole school community on December 3.  The students are mixed up so that all grade levels are working together.  Also, our Grade 3 choir will be singing at a seniors’ residence to treat the seniors to wonderful Christmas music.  We will have at least 3 carolling sessions the last week of school where we all enjoy singing our favorite carols.  We will also have Dan the One Man Band perform for the students on the last day before Christmas break.
We will support Brown Bagging for Kids here at the school as our Christmas charity. We will collect snacks and money to donate to this organization. Our students will decorate lunch bags so the snacks can be sent to children in a cheerful way.  This helps our students become caring and contributing members of our society. Thank you parents for working alongside of us to instill these qualities in your children.
Thank you to all the parents who are working a casino on December 15 and 16.  This support for your child’s school is so greatly appreciated.  We certainly could not do it without you!   Your children benefit so much from the activities and supplies that the school can now offer.
During the winter break, enjoy your family time.   In the New Year, we look forward to new experiences and new adventures in learning.
