Principal's Message

February/March Principal Message

The Hamptons school has had a very busy January.  We have had Alberta Opera here performing Pinocchio.  Kindergarten has had Scientists in School exploring winter with the students and they have had a visit from Ophelia the owl.
We have had the artist Carolyn Fisher here for a week teaching all the students how to draw portraits.  The students learned different techniques to draw their portraits.  Carolyn Fisher has illustrated 4 books and we have enjoyed her artwork.
Three clubs are providing extra activities for students.  Grade 4 Chess club had many members. Grade 3 has Scratch club and Grade 1 students are participating in Maker club.
We will have student teachers in the school from February to April.  We are welcoming back student teachers in Kindergarten and Grade 2.
We are also super excited about our Concert to be held March 15 at 7:00 at Foothills Alliance Church.  The play is called “Thwacked”.  It is a fractured fairytale and it will delight everyone who attends.
We had a School Council meeting on January 30. We would love to see more parents at our meetings.  Each meeting, a grade group of teachers presents on what is happening in their classrooms. This time it was Mrs. de Nance presenting on learning in Kindergarten.  Please come out and learn more about your school. Our next meeting will be April 10.
Thank you to all the parents that worked the casino in December.  Your willingness to participate in this makes it possible for the school to have funding for many added activities.
I would like to thank the parents who are following the traffic rules in the parking lot and on the street at the front of the school.  We all worry about keeping children safe so it is up to all of us to obey the rules.
Registration for next year continues.  Please let friends and neighbours know about our wonderful school.  We are happy to have them join our Hamptons school family.
Enjoy the February break and we look forward to seeing everyone at Parent-Teacher interviews in March.
