The following school teams are offered depending on the availability of coaches and facilities:

  • Cross Country Running - September- October
  • Soccer - September- October
  • Volleyball - September - November
  • Wrestling - October - December
  • Basketball - January - March

Students learn and grow when they are educated in a positive environment. We are committed to making these experiences as positive and educational as possible, for the athletes, officials, coaches, and spectators.

HDC Academy

In addition to the teams listed above, HDC also offer Soccer Academy, Volleyball Academy and Basketball Academy teams. These teams are open to all Gr. 7 students who wish to participate and focus on providing a team experience, skill development, game tactics and an understanding of the rules of play. Academy teams also may be involved in developmental opportunities with other schools.

Intramurals

Our intramural activities provide an opportunity for students to be active and participate in an organized recreational activity. Intramurals are held at the lunch on most days. While participation is voluntary, students are encouraged to participate, be active, meet new people, make new friends, and have fun.

Activities may include:

  • Indoor Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Badminton
  • Floor Hockey
  • Special Events

*In addition to lunch time intramurals, students have the opportunity to borrow a variety of Sports Equipment from the PE office for use in our outdoor spaces at lunch.

Drop-in Sports

At H.D. Cartwright we also periodically provide ALL students with the opportunity to participate in Drop-in Sports. Drop-in Sports typically happen on mornings when there are breaks in the Athletic Calendar with no activities scheduled for the Gym.  The gym is opened up for a designated sport for that morning before the start of school for any student wishing to participate as long as space is available.  Occasionally there are Drop-in Sports offered after school as well depending on staff availability and student interest.

A Drop in Sports schedule may look like:

  • Monday AM  – Indoor Soccer
  • Tuesday AM – Basketball
  • Wednesday AM – Floor Hockey
  • Thursday AM – Volleyball
  • Friday AM – Dodgeball
