Principal's Message

Parent Update

Good afternoon,
Thank you parents, guardians and students for your patience, teachers have been working closely to prepare for our new learning environment.
For our HWW families, our process going forward will be as follows:
Your student will be contacted via survey or phone by your Link Homeroom teacher no later than the end of the day on Tuesday, March 31. This point of conversation is to connect and touch base to find out how your student is doing and to ask pertinent questions around technology access.
We feel that it is important that students have a daily routine and schedule.
We have created an online timetable that is going to be used going forward. Posted on our website here. Note: Classes will begin on Wednesday, April 1.
Teachers will be using D2L Brightspace as their primary teaching and communication platform. If students have concerns or issues related to D2L, CBE student email, Google docs or passwords, help information is available here:  https://cbe.ab.ca/support/Pages/Google-Apps-Gmail.aspx#q2. Also, a video to find your D2L email: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7qnLmE4-wQ&feature=youtu.be
If your student requires further assistance / support outside of the online classroom aspect, please reach out to the designated Counsellor, Assistant Principal, or Resource support persons listed below:
As a reminder, we would encourage families to reach out directly to teachers, guidance or administration, should they have any concerns or need support. Their email addresses can be found on our contact page.
We recognize that not all students will have access to follow the suggested timetable due to many factors. Please know, that teachers will be flexible, available and will provide the content and instruction to meet your students’ needs. We have asked teachers to ensure the following:
There will be 2 instructional blocks per class each week that will allot the 3 hour requirement of instruction from Alberta Education.
In addition, teachers will be available for 3 blocks per week for informal contact, tutorials and support.
We have also asked that any virtual classroom lesson be archived for asynchronous access.
For students/families struggling with access to technology, let the teacher know and print resources will be provided.
We hope that your families are all healthy and doing well during this time. Please know that we are here to support you.

Principal
