There are many ways you can contribute to our school’s success, and make a difference for our school and our students. In our school, this can include providing in-kind donations, contributing cash and lending expertise and technical knowledge. Connect with our principal on what can be appropriate. Bottle Drive Update

Hillhurst School has three primary goals for its monthly bottle drives:

  1. Student Engagement
  2. Protection fo the Environment
  3. Earning to support enrichment

Engagement

Our first goal is ito increase engagement so that our students feel personally involved, positively excited and actively contributing to bottle drives. It's important for students to understand that the enriched programs they enjoy cost money and that students can help earn the funds required for these programs.

Environment

Our second goal is to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and keeping beverage containers out of the landfill. For example, our March colelction of 1,870 beverage containers saved an estimated 181.7 kg of greenhouse gas, 622.9 kWh of energy and 95.6 kg from the landfill*.

Earning

Our final goal is to fundraise for enriched learning opportunities at the school. Past earnings from bottle drives have been used to support artists in residence, the MakerSpace, school shirts, staff appreciation lunches, Sports Day, dances, Giving Day, the grandparent reading program, landscaping and other initiatives. To date, this school year, we have raised $1,843.15 towards our annual $3,000 goal.

Our final three bottle drives are scheduled for April 19, May 17 and June 21.

Remember the school has permanent collection bins to receive bottles at any time OR they can be taken to the North Hill Bottle Depot (to the account of Hillhurst School).
