Calgary Transit

Many students use Calgary Transit to get to school. Families are responsible for purchasing Calgary Transit monthly passes. Students are reminded to always have proof of fare payment to avoid a refusal of service or issuance of a summons. More information about fares and routes are available on the CBE website or the Calgary Transit website.

Calgary Transit Pass Rebate

Families at our school may be eligible for a rebate of Calgary Transit passes for the 2018-19 school year. CBE Transportation sends an email in October to parents/guardians of eligible students to let them know they qualify for the rebate. Families will be able to submit their expired passes for the rebate starting in November 2018. These families can receive a rebate up to $54.90 for each monthly pass. This rebate only applies to monthly passes – no rebate is provided for individual fares or tickets.

To claim the rebate, families will need to provide a scan or photo of the monthly transit pass, both front and back. It is recommended you do this as soon as you purchase the pass. Please ensure you keep an electronic copy of your pass.

More information about the program can be found on the CBE website: www.cbe.ab.ca/transitrebate.

Safety & Security

Calgary Transit provides riders with three options to report safety or security concerns. In addition to the phone number (403-262-1000) and the help buttons/phones at bus and train stations, riders can now send a text to 74100 for assistance from transit staff. For more details, please see the Calgary Transit website.

Student Expectations on Calgary Transit Buses

When travelling to and from school, students are expected to abide by all  expectations for student behaviour that are adhered to within the school. We ask that all members of the school community demonstrate courtesy and respect for others and make a positive contribution to the James Fowler community. Students who do not follow the appropriate code of conduct will be subject to progressive discipline action, which may result in the termination of bus use privileges, suspension from the school and/or a recommendation of expulsion.
