Sharing Initiatives

I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to our School Council/Fundraising Association for organizing another very successful Christmas Market this past weekend!  Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the music, food, shopping and positive energy of a market.

In the coming weeks, we have two opportunities to support other people, which come around in December:  our Christmas Hampers and, this year, a Christmas Store.
The Christmas Hamper Project:
This is a collection of gift cards or monetary donation, which is divided equally and shared with some of our Ken Taylor families who would benefit from this initiative at this time of year.  If you would like to participate in this project, please drop off your donations/gift cards at the office between now and Friday, December 14th.
The Christmas Store:
This is an initiative to support the students and families at another CBE school, Catherine Nichols Gunn.  We are asking interested families to donate new or gently used items, which are then used to create a ‘Store’ where the students at C.N. Gunn can then bring some small change (loonies and toonies) and purchase gifts for their parents.  These children do not have the opportunity to buy a gift at Christmas for their parents.  The ‘Store’ is run by the grade 5-6 leaders who also giftwrap the items for the students.  Any money ‘raised’ by students purchasing the gifts is then used to help off-set the cost of these students’ Outdoor School learning experiences.  Please see a letter from Principal, Steve Wigglesworth which has more information:  Christmas Store info 2018.pdf
On another note:  We also raised $1760 through the Indigo Adopt A School book campaign!  We will be able to use these funds to purchase books for our Learning Commons at an additional 30% discount J  Thank you to everyone who supported us through this campaign.
Warm Regards,
David
