​Getting Students to School

You can register your child for yellow school bus transportation online using your MyCBE/PowerSchool or completing a transportation registration form.

The transportation pre-registration period will begin in the spring (to be announced). To be included in the yellow school bus route planning for September, parents must pre-register by the deadline. Any registrations received after that date will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving. The more registrations we receive by the deadline, the more efficient route planning will be for September.

Yellow school bus registrations can be cancelled by Oct. 31 with no financial penalty. Cancellation forms must be completed before a pro-rated refund can be considered. No refunds will be processed for service cancelled after Apr. 30 or for individual trip delays.

Parents/guardians whose children access yellow bus service can view the status of their bus using the MyBusStop App or on My School Bus Monitor.

Conditional Riders

Students who are not attending the designated school for their program, or who are not within the transportation service area, may be able to access existing service if there is a suitable stop on the existing bus route. Fees will not be waived for conditional riders.

Criteria for conditional riders:

  • Must access an existing stop

  • Must be room on the bus

  • Must pay the transportation fee

  • No additional bus routes will be implemented to accommodate conditional riders

  • Must wait for written approval from Transportation Services before starting to ride the bus

Conditional riders are not permitted to ride the bus until it is determined there is space on the bus and riders have been approved by Transportation Services.

Bus Information

Southland Transportation provides charter bus service to and from school for students residing beyond the walk limit. All students taking charter busses to school are required to pay the transportation fee

Students are issued a bus pass at the beginning of the school year. They are required to carry their bus passes while riding the bus. Please attach the bus pass securely to an item that the student will bring to school each day, e.g., inside a backpack. Apply for a replacement bus pass at the school office if a bus pass has been lost.

Change of Arrangements

Sometimes children (after having made arrangements with their families) may request to ride an alternative bus to a friend’s home after school. The bus carrier is not required to allow this arrangement, but out of courtesy and goodwill, may provide this service if there is room on the bus. Additionally, parents must make the request in writing to the Principal. Students who normally ride the bus but who are being picked up by their parents on a particular day are requested to please wait at a location parents designate outside of their child’s dismissal doors. Parents are required to let the office know in advance so that we know not to have the student catch the bus. If your are not at your designated spot because of an unexpected delay, please instruct your child to ring the door buzzer and enter the school through the front doors and come to the office to wait there until you arrive.
