Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year

Welcome to MidSun, home of the Lakers! The beginning of a new school year provides us with many opportunities to make new friends, set personal and academic goals, and to plan many new and exciting experiences. You will find most of the information needed to ensure a successful year in this school handbook. Please note the calendar on our new school website. This list of events is as complete as possible and will be updated regularly. Many exciting class activities and field trips have not yet been included as they are still in the planning stages. Please make special note the final exam schedule and avoid taking holidays during this time. Throughout the year we will endeavor to communicate in a consistent, proactive manner. School wide information will be sent at the end of each week in the MidSun Messenger including upcoming important dates, schedules and reminders. For detailed calendars, teacher contact lists and more detailed information on our programs, please visit our school website or see your teacher’s BrightSpace shell.
We encourage all students to get involved in the many extracurricular clubs, activities, athletics and fine arts opportunities MidSun has to offer. We have something for everyone and some activities begin right away. We also encourage students to participate in the exciting TA/House challenges and special events held throughout the year. Information will be provided through the TV system, announcements, the weekly Messenger, as well as the various bulletin boards throughout the school. A positive school culture and experience starts by being involved so please join in.
Yes parents, we do still need your help so please fill out the volunteer registration page included in the welcome package sent home on the first day, or speak with one of the office staff if you are able to volunteer. Our School Council Volunteer Coordinator is also a great point of contact. Please join us at our first council meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019.
If you have questions please don’t hesitate to call our school office, check our school website or speak to one of your teachers. Homeroom teachers are often a good starting place. Our doors are always open and we welcome our community to connect with us. It’s going to be a great year!
Best Wishes,
Sherri Chatani, Principal

Happy Monday, Lakers! It feels so strange to not be greeting your beautiful selves at school today, but we'll make this new way work. If they haven't already, your teachers will be in touch shortly. Keep an eye on D2L and your email. #GoLakers #WeAreCBE

Laker families, if you haven't already seen the video, please do so 😊

RT @UsihChristopher: The week ahead will be busy with teachers connecting with students and families after the Break. It will feel different because our students will not be in schools. We miss them. Thanks to staff for reaching out with care and compassion! #WeAreCBE

RT @CBELearningTech: How learning will look like in the CBE over the next little while #WeAreCBE

RT @UsihChristopher: I continue to be humbled by our system’s ability to respond to this emergency, and for the care and kindness we are showing to our students, families, communities and each other. Stay well. #WeAreCBE
