Students in the Calgary Board of Education travel to school in a variety ways, including walking, taking yellow buses or Calgary Transit or being driven by parents/guardians. Their safety is important, no matter how they get to school and home again.

Getting Students to School

You can register your child for yellow school bus transportation online using your MyCBE/PowerSchool or completing a transportation registration form.

Please visit the CBE website to find more information on fees and service levels for the 2019-20 school year.

Through Bill 1, the government has eliminated or reduced transportation fees for students who live 2.4 km or more away from their designated Regular Program school. Students requiring complex learning needs transportation or attending a special setting will also be exempt from transportation fees. All other Regular and Alternative Program riders assigned to yellow school buses will be charged $365/year.

Yellow school bus registrations can be cancelled by Oct. 30 with no financial penalty. Cancellation forms must be completed before a pro-rated refund can be considered. No refunds will be processed for service cancelled after Apr. 30, or for individual trip delays.

Visit CBE Transportation for forms and more information.

Conditional Riders

Students who are not attending the designated school for their program, or who are not within the transportation service area, may be able to access existing service if there is a suitable stop on the existing bus route. Fees will not be waived for conditional riders.

Criteria for Conditional Riders

  • Must access an existing stop
  • Must be room on the bus
  • Must pay the transportation fee
  • No additional bus routes will be implemented to accommodate conditional riders
  • Must wait for written approval from Transportation Services before starting to ride the bus

Conditional riders are not permitted to ride the bus until it is determined there is space on the bus and riders have been approved by Transportation Services.

Parents/guardians whose children access yellow bus service can view the status of their bus using the MyBusStop App or check on My School Bus Monitor.

We are seeking input from our families, students and staff about what we should consider in our planning for school re-entry for the 2020-2021 school year. We will be collecting feedback until June 11 https://t.co/X3YzfNH5ZK #yycbe #WeAreCBE https://t.co/xpHFZLEc3H

CBE playgrounds remain closed. We will begin re-opening on Monday, June 1. Openings will continue throughout next week.
