Oki, Tansi, Hello Families!
This week, I was so excited to attend a grade 2 class, where groups of students put on different Reader's Theatre plays! The kids were having a great time showing their learning through presenting and participating as audience members. I saw great evidence of reading, writing, speaking and listening through story telling. There were a lot of giggles, gasps, applause and a great time was had by all!
Key learning intentions for this task were as follows:
integrate reading, writing, speaking, listening in an authentic context.
increase comprehension
Students were engaged and motivated to read the stories as they knew the work they were doing would be applied to an authentic context! When we create the conditions for students to be successful by providing connections to real world experiences, we help create confidence in our kids. This also leads to a positive self-image of themselves and what they are able to accomplish! Confidence is key.
Bravo!
