Locked Doors

All outside doors to the Niitsitapi Learning Centre are locked. This assists us in keeping the school safe and encourages visitors to the school to check in at the main office as per fire regulations. To gain entry to the front door, please ring the bell and staff will unlock the door. If the children arrive late, they must enter at the front door and check in at the office for a late slip.

All parents and visitors are required to sign-in at the Niitsitapi Learning Centre office and are asked to wear a visitor/volunteer badge while in the school during the school day. Please be aware that all adults who are working with children in the school are required to complete a police security screening. View our Volunteer page for more information.

Fire Drills

The Niitsitapi Learning Centre will adhere to the CBE requirement regarding fire drills, being sure six are completed throughout the course of the year.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school via SchoolMessenger.
