Get to know our principal and what’s going on in our school.
May 05
Welcome to the Northern Lights School Website!

I would like to extend a special welcome to all the families joining our NLS community!  I am truly honoured to be your principal.

While I will be working with the staff in August and the students in September to develop a vision and mission that feels right for all of us, our number one priority will be putting children first and using a strength-based approach to ensure all students are learning in an environment where they feel loved, have fun, and are nurtured to grow.

I value the partnerships and relationships that are built within a school community.  It truly does take a village!  Without the support of parents at home and through our volunteer opportunities and on School Council, the opportunities for students would not be the same. Information about our Northern Lights School Council will be coming in the near future.

In the months to come, we will provide you with as many updates as possible in as timely a fashion as possible. Please make sure to take advantage of all of the avenues of communication we will offer at Northern Lights School in the upcoming year:

  • Weekly Updates posted within the banner stories within News Centre on this website
  • Weekly Updates emailed out through School Messenger. Please subscribe to receive these by entering the email address that our school has on file at http://calgary.schoolmessenger.com/cbe_subscribe
  • 'Dates to Remember’ / Calendar section of the school website
  • Teacher ‘Daily Agenda’ blogs beginning in September
  • Twitter @NLS_CBE
  • Occasional surveys (such as the one provided at https://goo.gl/forms/CYTUqLN3OCjFSBHR2 to gather information from the staff, students, and parent community to get to know what our new school community values)

We hope you will find Northern Lights School an amazing place where learning is joyful and children truly enjoy coming to school!
