Students in the Calgary Board of Education travel to school in a variety ways, including walking, taking yellow buses or Calgary Transit or being driven by parents/guardians. Their safety is important, no matter how they get to school and home again.

After School Pick Up

For the first week of school, teachers will stay outside with the children until approximately 4:00 PM to ensure that they are picked up. Starting the third week of school, we expect that children are aware of their meeting spot and can go there independently to meet parents or guardians.

Teachers will also be advising children on how to walk to the front office doors and ring the bell for entry in the event that they are late or arrive at a locked door. We ask that parents be on time and arrive before the 3:45 bell (1:05 on Fridays) so that the end of the day ends smoothly for all of our students.

If you are running late, please contact us at 403-817-3444 to let us know and proceed to the school office to pick up your child.

Before and After School Care

Little Steps Before and After School Care program will be located within Northern Lights School once we open in our new building in the fall.  Visit littlestepsbac.ca to pre-register starting June 6, 2020.

While we are temporarily located within Coventry Hills School due to the building delay, Topp Kids Before and After School Care will continue to serve families that were registered with them for the 2019-2020 school year.

If you are not utilizing Topp Kids (and then Little Steps), please ensure your child has adequate care arrangements outside of school hours.

We will provide an update about when a Before and After School Care program will begin operating in our building, and how / when parents will be able to register as soon as it becomes available; however, it is unlikely that it will be operational for the start of the school year.
