Principal's Message

Cold Weather, Halloween, Communication,

This year, we have welcomed many new families to our school community.  We have grown to over 200 students so far!  With the growth of additional students, we have been able to hire a very dedicated and hard working Education Assistant, Mrs. Shaista Kamran, to work with students in our classrooms.
Winter is fast approaching.  Parents, please ensure your child comes to school dressed for the cold weather.  Each day, children go outside for recess and daily physical activity.  Children will need gloves/mittens, snow pants, winter coats, winter boots and hats/toques for the Calgary weather. This may be a good time to check the lost and found items when you come into the school.  We have accumulated over 20 pairs of lost shoes, a few pairs of boots and coats; which may come in handy with the cold weather.
Children are talking about Halloween and their excitement over their costumes.  On Thursday, October 31st at 1:30 p.m., our school will have a Learning assembly, followed by a Costume Parade.  Families are invited to attend the Assembly and Costume Parade. Please look to your child’s classroom blog for more information.
Penbrooke Meadows adheres to the Calgary Board of Education nutrition policy. This policy ensures that all food choices provided by the school, establish an environment that is safe, caring and conducive to learning. It is important that we respond to a variety of food and health concerns such as sensitivity to food and nut allergies, cultural restrictions and unknown food additives that may impact student health. Therefore, we ask that you refrain from sending treats, baked goods and/or store purchased food items for your child to share with their classmates. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept these items and will return them to you. We appreciate your understanding and support to ensure that as a community, the health and safety of all of our students remains a priority.
We are committed to practicing open communication with our families and school community.  Please do not hesitate to contact us should you want to book an appointment to speak with administration and/or your child’s teacher.  Our goal is to provide the best possible learning experience for your child.  As partners in education, we can do this effectively with your involvement, your feedback and your voice.
Please check the school website for upcoming school events and dates to remember.
