March 18-April 13th:

Yesterday a system-wide email was sent to you by SchoolMessenger that provided families with interim K-9 resources and activities to engage in for the time prior to the scheduled spring break. You can access the resources:

https://cbe.ab.ca/programs/curriculum/learning-at-home/Pages/default.aspx

On this webpage, CBE has collected ideas and activities to support active learning across the disciplines. These activities are easy to do at home using common materials and are engaging for students and families.

In addition, here are some other suggestions that students in all grades could be doing to keep up with their learning at home:

  • Read for 20 minutes a day (retell the events of the story)
  • Draw a picture and write about it
  • Research an Animal and write an article about it
  • Make your own Newspaper (include weather, tips, interesting facts and a current event)
  • Create and send a Postcard to friends and family
  • Journal
  • Go for a Nature Walk and describe (verbally or in print) what you saw and felt
  • Make a Family Photo Album
  • Listen to Nursery Rhymes and sing along with them
  • Write a Poem or Song and share it with the family
  • Draw or build your Dream House and write about the contents in it
  • Send a Postcard or Letter to friends or family

After spring break, we will provide an additional level of support for all of our students.
