WELCOME TO GRADE 2

LEARNING AND GROWING TOGETHER

In Grade 2, we will be using Google Classroom as a way to learn and communicate.

You can find our Google Classroom by using this link:

 Google Classroom

You will need to use your student CBE email and password that were sent to parent emails in a "passwords and log ins" document on April 8th.

Learning Plans will be emailed each Wednesday and have all assignments included. This information will also be available on our Google Classroom under the tab dated for that week.

Room 1B students will also have a Google Meet every Monday at 9:30 a.m. See the instructions in your learning plan and in the Google Classroom for how to log in. I can't wait to see all of you there!

Some ideas if your child completes all Learning Tasks provided and you are looking for additional ideas:

  • Read each day for 20 minutes. You can read on Kids A-Z.  They can also read to a sibling, stuffie, parent or pet or someone else via facetime/skype! They can retell the setting, characters, problem/events, and solution to check for understanding (comprehension) of what they are reading.
  •  Sign in to mathletics (username and password sent home earlier this year) students can login to their profiles anytime and work from home
  •   https://www.iknowit.com/ is another math website
  • ABCYa has great literacy and math games (free on desktop or laptop only, I think the app for tablets requires payment)
  • Cosmic Kids Yoga has great resources for moving bodies (and check out the "Zen Den" and "Guided Meditation" materials for mental health and wellness)
  • Students can always journal what they are doing at home
  • Write a letter to a friend or relative
  • Research a famous place or animal and write about it
  • Make a grocery list, to do list (plan for the day), list of their favourite toys, things they want to do etc.
  • Write a story (with characters/problem/solution)
  • Read a story and write a book review
  • Record interesting facts they have learned from reading
  • Check out the many online resources being offered (some zoos are doing daily "creature features" where students get to learn about the animal and then can write about it or research more if they are interested, many museums are offering free virtual tours and aquariums have cameras in the tanks showing live feeds)
  • Cook and bake using measuring cups and spoons, students can write a recipe or the steps they went through to make something or write a review about the results

Today we sent a year end message to families about our planning for school re-entry this fall. Re-entry survey results and a transportation reminder. Check your email to read it online: https://t.co/qFKMVzfIHS #yycbe #WeAreCBE https://t.co/2V4iqs1Xqo

Due to increased traffic, we’re experiencing issues with the online report card feature of PowerSchool. Check out these instructions on how to view your report card marks/indicators. Sorry for the inconvenience! https://t.co/8FwiAq3JGW #yycbe #WeAreCBE https://t.co/luTVdQ5J6M
