A NOTICE ABOUT LEARNING

Yesterday a system-wide email was sent to you by SchoolMessenger that provided families with interim K-9 resources and activities to engage in for the time prior to the scheduled spring break. You can access the resources here.  On this webpage, CBE has collected ideas and activities to support active learning across the disciplines. These activities are easy to do at home using common materials and are engaging for students and families.

In addition, here are some other suggestions that students in Kindergarten could be doing to keep up with their learning at home:

  • Download the Teach Your Monster to Read app for free from the app store.  You can start a brand new account or use the account your child already has set up with RMS (notices and password cards were sent home in October).  Your child's username and password is their first name.
  • Read to your child each day for 10-20 minutes or have your child read to you. This website provides free printable books for early readers http://icanreadsongs.org/second-books/
  • Early Literacy Websites

After spring break, we will provide an additional level of support for all of our students.

NOTICE FOR PARENTS

Dear Roland Michener School Families,

Yesterday, the government announced that all classes are cancelled immediately and indefinitely due to COVID-19.  We have developed a schedule to allow families to pick up necessary items over the course of the week. This pick up schedule must align with AHS guidelines around social distancing, therefore we request that only one adult from a family comes to the school. At this time, we are asking that you return any library books and pick up any necessary personal items. If you are feeling sick, you should not come to the school and an alternate time will be scheduled following the spring break. We also ask that you respect the need for as little person-to-person contact as possible. We will welcome you into the school, direct you to pick up items outside the classroom and then exit the building through the front doors in a timely manner.
