Grades 2/3, 3/4, & 5/611:30 AM - 11:48 PM11:48 PM - 12:15 PM

The lunch hour is from 11:30 AM - 12:15 PM. Students eat in two shifts. In order to balance the number of students eating at the same time in the lunchroom.

Due to the large number of students that require supervision, we do not have microwaves or hot water for soups. Try to send healthy lunches in recyclable containers. Please do not send pop or power drinks to school for students to drink. Students may not leave the school grounds during the lunch hour unless they are signed out by a parent and are under the direct supervision of said parent.

All Special Occasions, No Sugary Treats

If a teacher chooses to have a snack time as part of their academic task, and you are requested to bring food, we ask that you please follow the CBE Administrative Regulation and Alberta Guidelines for Children and Youth. The items that we welcome include fruits, vegetables and if you like, season pencils, erasers etc. Items that we ask that you do not bring into the classroom include any sugary treats like candy, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, artificial juice boxes etc. We appreciate your support, cooperation and understanding.

Allergies

Please be aware that we are an Allergy Aware school. To help reduce the risk to our anaphylactic children, we ask you to bring lunches and snacks that are free from nuts. If you are planning to send treats that have been prepared in a commercial kitchen into your child’s classroom, you need to communicate clearly with your child’s teacher beforehand, as well as follow the CBE Administrative Regulation 3047 - Nutrition. If the classroom treats are mistakenly sent to a classroom, teachers will contact families and remind them that we are unable to distribute items unless a conversation has occurred beforehand. In this case, items can be picked up from the school office or returned home.

Lunchtime Playground Supervision

Students are to go directly home, to childcare, or the CBE Lunch Program 11:30 PM-12:15 PM. Play ground supervision is provided by staff. Students should not return to school earlier than 12:10 PM if they go home for lunch.
