Volunteer with Us

We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. Contact us about ways you can volunteer with our school.

Visit the CBE website for more information on volunteering, including the required registration and Police Information Check. (Please note, guest speakers or visitors to the school, and parents/guardians assisting their own child only are not considered to be volunteers and do not require a police information check.)

  • Volunteers are covered by the CBE’s liability insurance policy while performing their assigned duties

  • Volunteers are covered by WCB while performing their duties

  • Volunteers receive direction from and are accountable to the teacher-in-charge

Parent Volunteers

Volunteering in your child’s school is a great way to be involved in your child’s education and at Rosscarrock School. There are many opportunities where volunteers are needed. You may choose to become a room parent or a coordinator of a program or volunteer in a more casual way. Your contributions in the classroom can involve listening to a child read, tutoring, giving special assistance, sharing talents and helping out with special events. Current research shows that the parent involvement in their child’s school has a significant impact on their child’s achievement.

The Calgary Board of Education requires all of its volunteers to be screened through Calgary Police Services. Please obtain the screening form from the office. You will not be able to volunteer until you have completed the form, so please get your form in as soon as you can! If you’ve had the police check done previously at another school, please see the Secretary to be sure you are included on our list. You may just need to register as a volunteer this year. The police screening is good for five years and takes about 3 weeks to process.

Please contact the office 403-777-8390 if you would like to consider volunteering.
